View Full Version : How strict is the game clock going to be?

I hope not too much. I thought the clock in all the other Rockstar games went to fast. :(
It's something that i would have liked to ask that tester guy but it's looking unlikely even after i offerd him a few $'s:???: bah nevermind :p
Personally i'm hoping the clock will go slow enough to get involved with each lesson so then you have enough time to do your own thing at breaks and lunch.

I agree, i hope Bully's clock doesn't work like GTA's clock.
I mean, what can you do in 1 minute classes and 3 minute breaks, not much.
The 1 day = 24 minutes system worked well in GTA but in Bully you have a schedule to accomplish.

It'll prob be something like 1min realtime = 2-5min gametime..

I'd like the mini-games to have a sped up clock (taking time away in game time), and something like what DJRussel said.

Dont really care, i mean your gonna have to get to the seasone, and a year in GTA takes a while....

as long as I have enough time to do all the side stuff im good

Yeah but I hope the clock isnt too unrealistic.. I mean something like 1min = 2-5min gametime would be fine.. but the GTA clock sucks.. its like 1 second = 1 minute or something.

The clock definitely needs to be longer but even if you just made every 1 min be 5 min in the game it would be fine. I am wondering however does anybody have a clue what the complexities are exactly.
djrussell
09-26-2006, 02:39 PM
Nope.
I hope it's real enough to let you do your thing but not to real, because a virtual year of school would get boring really fast

Umm I sort of know about it, you see 9:00 am is game hours but in REAL time that's 9 mins.
But yeah I think it's going to track accordly. Not to fast and not to slow

I'm sure it'll be one second in real time equals one minute in Bully time.

Nah thats way way way to fast, however it will happen they know that its important so they wont stuff it up. Have faith!

Three "real" minutes of free time? That wouldn't be possible.

That's ridiculous. In San Andreas it was OK, but in Bully you have a schedule. I'm 100% sure they won't do that.

No!! Ausralia has internet AND is right next to me in New Zealand, send him to... THE MOON!
But yeah in relation to the topic it'll be long enough to be able to have enough free time to do what you want and enough time to get to class, I'm thinkin it might even be like 10mins= 1hour and then when you go into class you have a set time to do things and then when completed it skips to the end of class then free time.
So time won't always be proportional. Anywho people have played this and NOone has complained about time management issues soo it'l be sweet as.

here are some examples (to reset them, click the "refresh" button of your browser):
1. 1 hour in-game = 1,5 minutes real time (1/40, a calculated time based on a "time-needed-to-play-through-the-game" source, the other source i had, resulted in a too fast moving clock, all sources are just sources, there were no further informations included, needed to pre-calculate an accurate time comparison; all the rest of the calculation is based on real life knowledge and knowledge about the game, but, atm there is no information when the game really ends, if it is open-ended, etc, a lot of information is still missing, so the following examples are really just examples)
http://www.venylsrecords.com/private/bully/c/t10.gif
2. 1 hour in-game = 3 minutes real time (1/20, the speed of the above two times slower)
http://www.venylsrecords.com/private/bully/c/t20.gif
3. 1 hour in-game = 2 minutes real time (1/30, 1 in-game minute equals 2 seconds of real time)
http://www.venylsrecords.com/private/bully/c/t30.gif
4. 1 hour in-game = 5 minutes real time (1/12)
http://www.venylsrecords.com/private/bully/c/t35.gif
5. 1 hour in-game = 10 minutes real time (1/6)
http://www.venylsrecords.com/private/bully/c/t40.gif
6. 1 hour in-game = 15 minutes real time (1/4)
http://www.venylsrecords.com/private/bully/c/t50.gif
7. 1 hour in-game = 30 minutes real time (1/2)
http://www.venylsrecords.com/private/bully/c/t60.gif
8. REAL TIME: 1 hour in-game = 1 hour real time (1/1)

Cool.. personally I like the 1 hour in-game = 30min real time.. that'd be more appropriate for a game like this IMO.

yeah 30 minutes sounds cool
i could definetly handle that

loo, nice clock o_0
i think itl be same as gta, the minigames and classes take chunks of time away. so itl be faster than you think.
djrussell
10-15-2006, 06:28 AM
Yeah I agree that the mini-games should be faster.. perhaps what they've done is you go to class at say 9:10.. and play the mini-game, and when your finished you come out at say 11:00 or something.. then its 30min for every hour that passes or something.. dunno

Hmm the clock seems to be a hard decision on Rockstars' part, because they don't want the days to be ridiculously long, then again not as short as the GTA clock. I'd say maybe 15 minutes=1 hour or something of the sort, but alas it's Rockstars' choice in the end. :/

one thing i was asking myself has to do with "coming too late to a class", someone wrote in an article, that you can actually come up to 30 (in-game) minutes too late into the class and you won't get any trouble for this .. in real life the teacher would say "sorry guy, get out of here, you are 5 minutes to late" .. so, maybe it's like 1 in-game minute is 10 real time seconds, or in other words: 1 in-game hour equals 10 minutes of real time, just a thought..
http://www.venylsrecords.com/private/bully/c/t40.gif
north american (because bullworth is located in the northern usa) schoolyear has 270 days minimum, including freetime, weekends, holidays, don't know how jimmy passes the summer break holidays, that would add another few days/weeks/months to it, jimmy's day goes from 8 in the morning to 2 in the night ("2 in the night" is the maximum that jimmy can be awake, standard sleeping time for jimmy would be around 23 o'clock), sources wrote the game will take up to over 100 hours to finish it, the other source, a law site that wrote about the jack t. court thing, wrote, the producer said "30 to 40 hours" to complete it (i can't believe that, it would actually be too short)
and yeah, the in-game clock should go not to fast and not too slow, because of all the stuff, like going into class, have a box fight in the gym, making some missions and jobs, some things just need to go quick and other things would be better if you have more time for it, so 10 minutes would be fine, i think and it would fit with the "coming too late to a class without getting trouble for it"
and one more^^:
http://www.venylsrecords.com/private/bully/c/schedule.jpg
i think this schedule from the magazine scan is just for illustration, because the shown times are not correct, they should be like this: 8 - jimmy wakes up, 9 to 12 - first part of the schoolday, 12 to 13 - break, 13 to 16 - second part of the schoolday, 16 to 19 - freetime, 19 to 23 - evening (jimmy has to be on campus), 23 to 8 - night begins, jimmy has to be on his room and he should go to bed soon, maximum time jimmy can be awake is 2 o'clock in the night, after that he will automatically fall asleep

Well I believe that the 10 seconds=1 minute is an excelent idea! Hmm I wonder why I didn't think of it myself. It is one of the best ways that R* could do it.

I think it's right when the game starts, before you've done anything, so they will want you to get used to the basic control scheme. They probably just give you time to piss around and not worry about having to be places at certain times.

3. 1 hour in-game = 2 minutes real time (1/30, 1 in-game minute equals 2 seconds of real time)

edit: in some videoscenes the clock runs like 1 second is 1 minute in-game, maybe the clock speed changes in some situations
