Okay, I know this has been done on the ultimate modding thread but this will be very detailed since back when I was really new to Bully on PC I was desperate too change skins. Now I will teach you how :)
Message to Guests... STOP BEING A LURKER AND SIGN UP! lol
1. Okay first you have to download IMGTOOL2.0 from the GTA Garage
2. After doing so open IMG TOOL, then click on "File" then "Open" then click on World.img
3. Find the the Nif and NFTS of the character you want to play as
(I will use parker as an example)
4. Don't delete the ones with CS at the begginning since those are for the Cut scenes and if you delete it your world.img is fucked
5. Extrack Parkers Nif and NFT to Stream (Parkers nif and nft should look like this) PRH3a_Parker.nif and PRH3A_Parker.nft
(Now I will show how to replace a costume with a Parker skin (I will use the red ninja as an example)
6. Type in SP_NinjaR and don't delete the ones that start with CS
7. Go down until you find 4 Sp Ninjar nifs, it should look like this
SP_NinjaR_FT.nif and under the FT you will see SP_NinjaR_H, L and T.
8. You will now have to delete sp_ninjar FT, H, L and T
9. Go down until you find SP_Ninjar_FT.nft and SP ninjar H and L and T
10. Now before you delete the nfts go into the stream file that is in bully then copy and paste Parkers NIF and NFT 4 times EACH
That should be a total of 8.
Now what you have to do is re-name parkers nif and nfts to the name of the outfit you are deleting.
BUT BE SURE YOU DO IT RIGHT!
Even though you deleted the NIF of the SP_Ninjar don't delete the NFT before you re-name Parkers nif and NFT to the SP_Ninjar outfit.
After re-naming them it should look like this
SP_NinjaR_FT.nif
SP_NinjaR_FT.nft
SP_NinjaR_H.nif
SP_NinjaR_H.nft
SP_NinjaR_L.nif
SP_NinjaR_L.nft
SP_NinjaR_T.nif
SP_NinjaR_T.nft

Those files have to be in stream now for the next step
Now after Re-naming them you will now delete the Nft files of the red ninja outfit.
Now we are nearly done.
Now what you do is after deleting the NFT of the red ninja you will have to go to "Commands then click on "add"
Now select all the SP_NinjaR files.
But be sure to not select the world files!
So just highlight all the SP_NinjaR files then click on open
Now all the files should go down to the bottom, after this has happened Go to commands then click on "Reuild archive"
This will take a few minutes.
After you have rebuilt the archive exit out of the IMG TOOL and start the game, go to the closet/ wardrobe then go to the costume you used to change skins and you should be the person you wanted to change skins to :D
But be sure to take the SP_Ninjar files out of the stream after you have done it and you defitinaly know you have changed skins because if the game crashes you will have to change skins all over again and do the boring bits.
But if you make backups its as easy as just deleting the nif and nft of the costume then the add and rebuild archive
But that is a tut for another time.

Gman is a great modder but he never shares, and both of you know as much if not more then GMAN and greater then that.. You both share! :D
We all do appreciate you and Mads hard work.
But the bad thing about sharing a lot is leeches, but best thing to keep them away is ban them xD

:laugh: yea its great when other people like yourself start to get involved in the community and help it snowball like this, more people are joining the board than ever before and its growing at an alarming rate, I've allways said its only a matter of time before things take off and the hoping is over, sooner or later another NT is going to come through the door.
In my opinion a great modder allways shares their work but that's just me, collectively me and mad have released more mods and delved into finding more stuff than anyone has before and i think this speaks for itself that teamwork is the way forward, I'm sure the moderators know and have a good idea on who these culprits contaminating the board are. once aggain congrats and thanks, dont forget to send me a pm we will talk on their. aye and it was me :P

I am a basic modder but I could never mod as well as you 2 and we both know that :)
But my previous posts explain it, You 2 have revolutionised bully modding, Gman did the first major mod but you 2 have done a lot of major mods and shared. So I'm sure most of us respect you and Mad.

thanks for the karma, yea we're quite greatful for this recognition of the work were doing, it is something i personally have craved for a while and i'm not ashamed to abmit this, i know other modders want this recognition aswell but dont say so personally for me its because iv'e sacrificed a lot of time when i could have been doing other stuff and now im stuck in rl and i wanted to know weither this time sacrificed was worth it in the end or just a complete waste.
mind you i know theirs better modders than me about i know theirs a few people working on big things like this debugger for example which will change everything and whoever cracks it weither it be imod or mad for this they will be hailed.
The truth is Greasers that i'm not actually that good of a modder in all honesty, i started off as a basic modder like yourself with little knowledge also, it was only untill i decided to mod .img files and do things differently which gained me access to the interiors which was my first real breakthrough in revolutionising modding as you put it and for that i would have to agree, but the secret is you just have to view things differently than everyone else, while people are messing about with fighting styles and doing the same old mod different day, you have to create new ideas and thats all their is to it really, know what your looking for and thats it, theirs no skill involved, just an unshakeable determination, intuition and a small amount of creativity for making ideas, after all it is only file modding.

Hey Greasers,
As Steman said above basicly, thinking outside the box is really the way forward in any game modding wether it be bully, gta series or another game. Like Steman, I do not really think of myself as a great modder since I refuse flat out to put myself on a pedestal like that (ego does not drive me here) and just prefer to think of myself as a modder.
While it is true that Steman and I together have released more then anyone has total...at the same time I prefer to think of it like this: Steman and I have helped shape the future of bully modding as well as show that teamwork can be very rewarding to those that are willing to put differences aside and team up with one or more ppl to get some releases out.
It should never be about a modder stating he or she refuses to help those that never help themselves or anything like that since talk like that is rude and really gets ppl nowhere. I found that there is a larger benefit of sharing information even if its not the full answer but say....most of it. It can help whomever that reads or uses it learn by also giving said person ideas that they never had before to try. This is what helps a modding community grow. Not ppl that show off what they can do....what other could do if they try...but refuse to take part in the community at large.
I like to think that Steman...RedBlaster, myself and others here have helped pave the way for our community to really become great and for newbies to be comfortable coming here to ask questions and to learn without feeling intimidated like in other communities where so much as asking a innocent question gets you either banned or flamed out of the community. As long as I have any say in the matter....that will not happen here since if it did, that would just defeat the purpose of even having a community.
Far as your tutorial goes, great job on it. If you would like I can help you with writing more tutorials that have not already been covered if you want help of any kind or maybe some ideas on a tutorial to make that has not been done yet, since atm, the sky's the limit on what we all can accomplish here with bully.
and btw greasers, I also added some karma to ya since you do deserve it for being a active part of the community since that is what we all need. 8)

Anyway, what other tutorials would there have too be?
I think the skin was a largely requested one (maybe not) but whatever. maybe I can teach newbies how to hex edit Characters in, but in a very understandable way, but it wouldn't have to be added into the umt since I think a tut about that has already been there.
So there's no point doing that tutorial unless people didn't understand the method that's on the umt, but that method is pretty much the same method I use.

I think their are many tuts that need doing for umt to be honest, its nice to see some people gaining from it but their are others which cant understand it well, even though its been fully revamped aswell, I don't see why you can't help to contribute tuts to umt if you want, it was originally red and mads job but mad seems to busy to do these refurbished tuts and reds nowhere to be seen, iv'e only come back on to post the model id tuts so the release would get used, yea just pm the tut to mad or red i suppose and they will add it in, the more the merrier

it shouldnt look too bad, red/mad will just paste your tuts into the correct section with "tutorial 2 by Greasers" in purple next to it, it will look similar to the skin mod section

As well as refusal to ever give up no matter how tough it is. That is how I drive myself in life regardless if I am game modding, doing artwork, making sites or just doing things not pc related. (doesn't help that I am a bit of a perfectionist as well...lol)

Yes, to add they HAVE to be in stream for the adding and rebuilding archive bit. After you have done it just move it to a new folder (if you want) But only move it out after you have added and rebuilt archive

Remember, if you want to play as another person, just look for the nif and NFT of the person you are wanting to change skins to.
Just be sure not to do anything with the ones that start with CS.

Hey can i have some help with this? When I try to delete it says dir file error it may be in use...exciting. Then it just sits there and I can't click anything.

Now if you play a cutscene with the deleted cs_ model your game may get corrupted...

But for some reason, looong ago when I was trying to do it, the world.img backup only worked like 2 or 3 times, then it would just not work anymore even if it was a normal file.

That's what I meant. Minor changes to the world.img can be solved with a backup like the ide.img or the scripts.img.
But if it is a big mistake (such as deleting a cutscene model or replacing certain models) it gets corrupted and no backup can fix that. It means a complete reinstall.
This happened to some people after replacing the texture of the spudgun with the bbgun. It worked for some minutes and then the game crashes.

The fighting style is not necessary to edit if you want the skin to look properly.
For example if you want russell height you have to swap player...player... (With all the dots) in the ide with dolead_russell...dolead_russell_w...

Now, HxD is pretty much the primary thing for basic bully modding (Fighting styles, spawing characters, among some others)
Just google Hex Editor and download it and follow some tutorials, if you fail just post a question in the questions modding section. We will try to help as much as we can. :)

oh yeah i wanted to replace the wrestling uniform with some other skin. in the world.img i see 5 Wrestling words with H,L,T,FT and also one without any letter at the end just SP_Wrestling.nif . do i erase this as well?

I would recommend you to replace the red ninja outfit instead of the wrestling outfit.
Most of the skin change tutorials show how to do it with the red ninja outfit.
If you want to do it with the wreslting outfit I know you have to replace the ones that end with FT H L T. I'm not sure about the one that doesn't end with anything.

No. Back up the ide. Now, search Mandy's name, copy JKGirl_Mandy or whatever until /Anim/GS_Female_A.act, then paste over player until Player.act... (make sure to include all dots, and pay attention to the fact that act here is lowercase) by highlighting that part and then right clicking "paste insert".
Now, open the backup ide, and do the opposite. Copy from player until Player.act..., then on the edited ide, paste on JKGirl_Mandy until /Anim/GS_Female_A.act.

In any case, the second part has been done correctly.
Now, in the backup, copy from JKGirl_Mandy or whatever until /Anim/GS_Female_A.act and paste THAT part over player until Player.act...
Simple. Once that's done, just change "JOCK" to "PLAYER1".

Nope. The /Global/PlayerAI and other AI part are missing, and they're important.
Two questions:
1. Are you paste inserting? If not, you're doing it wrong.
2. Did you overwrite JOCK with PLAYER1? If not, then that's another thing you did wrong.

No...until Player.act... Leave the /Global/PlayerAI part.
Then, just overwrite JOCK with PLAYER1...that simple.

No, it's not. Why did you copy until AI.act..? I told you to keep the PlayerAI part. Just copy from JKGirl_Mandy until /Anim/GS_Female_A.act and STOP THERE.
Paste that over player until Player.act...
READ CAREFULLY: Player.act..., NOT PlayerAI.act...

Try again...it may not necessarily work the first time, probably due to differences in the directory.

If the game crashes after the first loading screen, it's not because the ide.img was edited wrongly.
That happened to me a lot of times. When you replace jimmy "skeleton" (or body size) with a certain ped, the game just doesn't work for unknown reasons (at least for me).
The first times I played as Hal everything was normal. The next day it didn't work anymore.

That's very awkward...
Keep trying. It's not related to luck...I have a feeling it's due to the dir file having a conflict.

I and one of my team-mates are working on a player selector mod that will work similar to the infamous one in the vid by NTAuthority. I suggest you wait until that gets done and you will be able to change characters then without editing a single file.
I cannot give a ETA on this...but lets just say we are really close to making this a reality.

Uhm, I tried to do it with Kirby and Parker and both look retard when I choose the Red Ninja costume, their mouth its like all open and they look really retarded lol, is there a way to fix that?

^ Haha, Russell does that for me to. This is because of the size. They are originaly bigger/taller then Jimmy. Your size stays as Jimmy, but the costume goes to who you change it to. So you need to change the size of Jimmy. Easiest way to do so would be in ide.img

EDIT: also, is there a way to see Gord in the cutscenes too ? like replacing CS_NinjaR for Gord, ? to see him actually in the custcenes and not just on freeroam

In the beta version of the game Russell was supposed to be the leader of the punks faction. The punks faction was later changed to the dropouts faction.
Then rockstar made him the leader of the bullies and Edgar became the leader of the dropouts.

1. Create a copy of the ide.img.
2. Open your ide.img with HxD, and copy player..player...... (with dots) then find the person you want to play as.
3. Once you find the person you want to play as, it should look like this:
GRlead_Johnny...GRlead_Johnny_W.....Large...GREASER.STAT_G_JOHNNY...F_Greas.G_Johnny....null....null......../Global/G_Striker_A.Act/Anim/G_Striker_A.act..../Global/AI..Act/AI/AI.act...N_Johnny
(of course whatever character you are playing as)

Yes. I have been thru the same problem many times before. There is a way to fix this easily. You need HXD Editor.
1. Create a copy of the ide.img.
2. Open your ide.img with HxD, and copy player..player...... (with dots) then find the person you want to play as.
3. Once you find the person you want to play as, it should look like this:
GRlead_Johnny...GRlead_Johnny_W.....Large...GREASER.STAT_G_JOHNNY...F_Greas.G_Johnny....null....null......../Global/G_Striker_A.Act/Anim/G_Striker_A.act..../Global/AI..Act/AI/AI.act...N_Johnny
(of course whatever character you are playing as)
4. Paste the player..player...... on the GRlead_Johnny...GRlead_Johnny_W..... (whoever you are want to playing as)
5. Open the copy of the ide.img. Search for the character, then copy THEIR code. For example: GRlead_Johnny...GRlead_Johnny_W.....
6. Go back to the modded IDE and replace the player..player...... with GRlead_Johnny...GRlead_Johnny_W..... or whoever you want to play as.
7. Now, save the modded ide.img.
Note: If you have done this all correctly, the copy of ide.img should still not be modded/edited.

No. This changes the bones of Jimmy, so when you use the other skin, you wont look weird. However, if you use Jimmy and do this, you will look weird.
Changes the shape is what it does.
Most people now use the actual Lua code to change models. Not sure if I can say it here, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
